Gifted & Talented and 504 Coordinator with Ms. Rayburn

Dear Sage Canyon Families,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  My name is Kelly Rayburn, and I will be working as our school’s Gifted and Talented Facilitator and 504 Coordinator.  I am so excited to continue working in such a positive, energetic school and feel so lucky to work with students to explore, create, and advance their learning.
One of my roles at Sage Canyon will be to work with parents, teachers, and students to ensure students’ Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) goals are written and achieved.  It will also be my job to work with parents and teachers in identifying gifted learners, so we can best meet their needs. I will be working in classrooms with teachers, students, and small groups to facilitate, guide, and extend learning.

I would like to tell you a little bit about myself to help you feel comfortable asking questions, collaborating, and so you can get to know me.  I have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Design and Instruction from CU Denver and eight years of teaching experience. I love working with students and encouraging them to reach their fullest potential.  I believe it is very important for students to take ownership of their learning and explore their interests.

I am a native Coloradoan, who loves adventures and the outdoors.  I spend my free time hiking, biking, skiing, and snowshoeing. My two daughters, who are in 8th grade and 2nd grade, share my love for activities.  We also have a silly border collie mix puppy who keeps us entertained and busy. I love reading and traveling too! Family, friends, and encouraging kindness are very important to me.  I also love practicing yoga!

I am excited to get to know everyone and to have a great school year.  Please never hesitate to contact me to ask questions, for information, or just to say hi!
